Iryna and Perry are such a cute and loving couple it’s always a pleasure to be around them. Their intimate wedding ceremony took place at the end of July and we couldn’t ask for a better day. It was gorgeous outside and their ceremony location (which is Elgin Arch) was perfect. So happy for you guys!!

The wedding ceremony took place at a gorgeous Ukrainian Catholic Church of Assumption. When I walked in I was blown away by the interiors. How lucky were Lindsay and Alex to get married at such a beautiful church!

The third couple in Priddis Valley Gardens were Elaine and Drew. They were so much fun! We got time to jump around (well, they did), play some chess (well, pretend they played some chess) and just being their sweet selves. It was great to shoot you guys!

I’m posting like crazy today. Trying to catch up on all the photos I have done so far and share them with you guys. It’s been an awesome summer with so many great clients. My good friend Staz recently started playing in a band called ‘The Fallbacks’. Last Friday we went to hear them perform. I brought my camera along to experiment with very low light photography. This Saturday I was second shooting for Svetlana Yanova. We were documenting Gina and Robert’s Wedding that took place here in Calgary at the beautiful Crestmont Hall. The bride was stunning and the groom was at his best as well. It was such an amazing day. The family made us so welcome it felt like we were part of the family. So many heart touching words were said during the banquet and the party was wild. This family sure knows how to have fun! Yesterday I had a great opprotunity to go out of town to a beautiful Drumheller area with a group of talented local photographers to do an off-camera flash workshop. We had a lot of fun and learned many great lighting tips. The weather was perfect and the models were wonderful. Kurtis, thank you for setting this up.

A couple of days ago I finally received the sample album that I couldn’t wait to share with everyone. I had a lot of fun designing it and making albums is actually one of the things that I enjoy (apart from shooting of course). I’m really happy with the album quality and how it turned out. You can have something like this sitting on your coffee table too. It’s too bad that most of our photos now-a-days are stored on disks and hard drives and we find less and less time to do the printing but an album like this not only will allow you to remember those fun moments and actually hold the memories in your hands but also will let you show off your beautiful faces to your family and friends.

I’m trying to catch up on finishing the latest photos I’ve taken and here is the one I really like. When I first met Lucas he was a tiny little baby and now he’s grown into an independant boy. You should see him running around and doing things on his own. It’s hard to believe that only not too long ago he wasn’t even able to walk. We pulled out Lucas’s shiny new bike from the basement to snap some shots on it, but Lucas had other plans. Seems like he looooves cars, especially his mom’s car. So we went with the flow and did some portraits in the car. Here are my favourites:

I’m continuing to look through the photos I’ve taken during the year of 2009 and here is another set I’d like to share with everyone. This set doesn’t involve people but nevertherless is an interesting one. I’ve briefly mentioned it in the summer but never had a chance to go deeper into it. Here is the link to the original post about the unusual car show that my husband and I had a chance to go to.
It’s held every year near the small town of Irricana, Alberta on the grounds of a neat little museum called Pioneer Acres. Being there you will have an opportunity to dive back in time and explore the evironment as it was known then. Add a ton of vintage ( kept in great shape) vehicles and machinery and you get yourself a very interesting field trip that will be worth your time. The actual car show is help once a year but the museum is open May to September.
This Cadillac was the oldest vehicle in the show.

Going through the photo archives of 2009 I immediately realize that my Cuban folder wasn’t published and I quickly rush to fix it. What a great trip it was! Too short for time but full of memories. Did I enjoy my time there? Definately. Even though we were surrounded by the comfort of an all-inclusive resort most of the time we did get to experience a bit of Varadero and Havana with its colourful architecture, warm people and the lavish southern sun.

Dance 4 Life was founded in 2003 by only two people and is now an international movement that unites young people around the world in hopes to push the spead of HIV/AIDS and raise money for research against it.
I had such a blast photographing the event that took place here in Calgary hosted by Canyon Meadows Gold’s Gym, it was so much fun! I got to take photos and dance, what else do you need? Svetlana, thank you for inviting me!

As I promised before, I’m posting a very special pregnancy photoshoot that I had a chance to do. Olga and I met in high school and even though shortly after she moved away to spend time with her boyfriend, now husband and a father-to-be, we have always tried to stay in touch. Ever since the beginning Olga had a sparkle in her eyes every time she would talk about Mike. Time went by. They got married. Any day now the baby will be born. I’m so happy that they have found one another because they compliment each other so perfectly and I can’t wait to meet the new addition to their family!
And here is the last one, even though it doesn’t fit into this set, I really like it.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas and the New Year. I still can’t believe it’s already the year of 2010. It feels like only yesterday it was summer. Going to Banff during Christmas break became almost a tradition for my husband and I. This time we decided to go up on the Gandola and enjoy the view of the Rocky Mountains from the top. We underestimated the temperature up there a bit but it didn’t stop us from walking around the area. Here are a couple of shots from the top of the world.
On the way to Banff I couldn’t resist stopping the car and wondering around in the snow to catch some beautiful sun flare against freshly covered snow tree branches.

Last Sunday was the coldest day yet. Last Sunday was also the day that I booked a photoshoot with two sisters – Kristeen and Tammy. Almost to the end I wasn’t sure how it would work out being -32 outside. But it worked out and we had so much fun! Kristin picked Calgary Zoo as the location for photos and it was a great choice. So-o-o many interesting places there. I’m definitely coming back! The idea behind the shoot was to create photos for a calendar that the girls would put together for their mom as a Christmas gift. Well, I hope that we suceeded and she will like it.

On December 1st I started to wonder if we will have any snow for Christmas this year, but I didn’t have to wait long – on Friday, Calgary was hit with a snow storm and it’s now very chilly and snowy outside. Perfect weather to catch up on all the photo editing and prepare for Christmas. We will be putting decorations up today. Here is a holiday spirit moment caught on camera.

Baby Showers are such a great idea to celebrate moms and dads to be. This one was extra special since mom-to-be had no idea it was organized for her. Getting ready to go to a ‘restaurant’ her husband remembers that he absolutely needs to drop by their friend’s house to pick something up. They need to park at the back because the asphalt on the front driveway is ‘freshly poured’ (right!! it’s only because all these cars are parked at the front). So here they are entering the house just to find all their friends gathered together waiting to screen S-U-R-P-R-I-S-E!! Good thing Katya didn’t go into labour right there and then. But I’m pretty sure she was surprised!
