Who would have thought that two days one coming after the other could be so different. We had a huge snow storm on Saturday and a sunny snowy wonderland on Sunday. It’s Calgary…anything is possible here. Originally, we scheduled the photo shoot for Saturday but then moved it to Sunday. I’m so-o-o glad we did! Big thanks to Gary at Hilltop Ranch Bed and Breakfast for letting us in and graciously showing us around. If you ever want to get away, you should try Hilltop Ranch. So close to Calgary too!
We had a great time with Anastassia, Dave and their adorable little Yorkie Jessica exploring the ranch, having fun in the snow and feeding the horses. You guys are awesome and I can’t wait until your wedding this fall! Many hugs!

On Saturday, I had a pleasure to photograph this beautiful expecting couple. We met up at Confederation Park in Calgary, the exact park where our own wedding ceremony took place. I haven’t been to this park in four years. It was nice to walk around there again.
The forecast for the day didn’t sound very promising but we decided to go ahead anyways. I’m so glad we did because right as I parked the car and got out the sun started peeking through the clouds.

I haven’t blogged in the longest time it seems. The year started off so hectic that I feel bad about neglecting my blog. I’m happy to say that spring is almost upon us and that means sunny outdoors, blooming trees and gorgeous weather (even if it’s only going to happen in May, but we can be hopeful,right?). I’m really looking forward to this spring and all that it will bring, are you?
I have a bunch of cool photo sessions coming up starting really soon that I’m excited about sharing with you. Give me a shout if you would like to have some photos done, we will make it happen.

I couldn’t wait to capture the pregnancy photos for Dinara & Troy. It’s not their first time in front of my camera and I love photographing them! We had to post-pone the shoot for two weeks because of the rain that wouldn’t go away and I’m o-o-oh so glad we did. The trees turned colours in almost overnight it felt. It was gorgeous outside today and I cannot wait to share these beautiful family photos with you. Baby #2 is on the way. Wishing you good luck!

Iryna and Perry are such a cute and loving couple it’s always a pleasure to be around them. Their intimate wedding ceremony took place at the end of July and we couldn’t ask for a better day. The third couple in Priddis Valley Gardens were Elaine and Drew. They were so much fun! We got time to jump around (well, they did), play some chess (well, pretend they played some chess) and just being their sweet selves. It was great to shoot you guys!

This Saturday I was second shooting for Svetlana Yanova. We were documenting Gina and Robert’s Wedding that took place here in Calgary at the beautiful Crestmont Hall. The bride was stunning and the groom was at his best as well. It was such an amazing day. The family made us so welcome it felt like we were part of the family. So many heart touching words were said during the banquet and the party was wild. This family sure knows how to have fun! Yesterday I had a great opprotunity to go out of town to a beautiful Drumheller area with a group of talented local photographers to do an off-camera flash workshop. A couple of days ago I finally received the sample album that I couldn’t wait to share with everyone. I had a lot of fun designing it and making albums is actually one of the things that I enjoy (apart from shooting of course). I’m really happy with the album quality and how it turned out. You can have something like this sitting on your coffee table too. It’s too bad that most of our photos now-a-days are stored on disks and hard drives and we find less and less time to do the printing but an album like this not only will allow you to remember those fun moments and actually hold the memories in your hands but also will let you show off your beautiful faces to your family and friends.

I’m trying to catch up on finishing the latest photos I’ve taken and here is the one I really like. When I first met Lucas he was a tiny little baby and now he’s grown into an independant boy. You should see him running around and doing things on his own. It’s hard to believe that only not too long ago he wasn’t even able to walk. We pulled out Lucas’s shiny new bike from the basement to snap some shots on it, but Lucas had other plans. Seems like he looooves cars, especially his mom’s car. So we went with the flow and did some portraits in the car. Here are my favourites:

I’m continuing to look through the photos I’ve taken during the year of 2009 and here is another set I’d like to share with everyone. This set doesn’t involve people but nevertherless is an interesting one. I’ve briefly mentioned it in the summer but never had a chance to go deeper into it. Here is the link to the original post about the unusual car show that my husband and I had a chance to go to.
It’s held every year near the small town of Irricana, Alberta on the grounds of a neat little museum called Pioneer Acres. Being there you will have an opportunity to dive back in time and explore the evironment as it was known then. Add a ton of vintage ( kept in great shape) vehicles and machinery and you get yourself a very interesting field trip that will be worth your time. The actual car show is help once a year but the museum is open May to September.
This Cadillac was the oldest vehicle in the show.

Going through the photo archives of 2009 I immediately realize that my Cuban folder wasn’t published and I quickly rush to fix it. What a great trip it was! Too short for time but full of memories. Did I enjoy my time there? Definately. Even though we were surrounded by the comfort of an all-inclusive resort most of the time we did get to experience a bit of Varadero and Havana with its colourful architecture, warm people and the lavish southern sun.
